UNP MP Vijayakala Maheswaran, arrested by the Organised Crime Prevention Division (OCPD) of police, yesterday morning (08), was released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake.
A further hearing is scheduled for Dec. 7.
Counsel Anil Silva, PC, appeared for Vijayakala.
The Attorney General last month advised the Inspector General of Police, Pujith Jayasundara, to take legal action under the Penal Code against Maheswaran for having allegedly called for the revival of the LTTE.
Speaking at the Veerasingham Hall in Jaffna, on July 2 at an event attended by some senior government Ministers, Maheswaran allegedly called for the revival of the LTTE to curb the rising crime in the North.
Vijayakala resigned as the State Minister of Child Affairs on July 5.
