{"id":10647,"date":"2021-03-29T13:07:06","date_gmt":"2021-03-29T13:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/?p=10647"},"modified":"2021-03-29T13:11:42","modified_gmt":"2021-03-29T13:11:42","slug":"two-arrested-for-promoting-ltte-on-youtube-and-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/two-arrested-for-promoting-ltte-on-youtube-and-website\/","title":{"rendered":"Two arrested for promoting LTTE on YouTube and website"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two suspects have been arrested for promoting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Jaffna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said the two suspects were a 35-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have been arrested on charges of operating a website and a YouTube channel promoting the LTTE and related terrorism activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further said the suspects were arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were arrested following a special raid conducted on an office situated on Nawalar Street in Jaffna this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The TID had traced the website and YouTube channel that had been in operation for several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two social media platforms are said to have promoted the LTTE\u2019s ideology with contents of late LTTE leader Prabakharan\u2019s speeches, and the symbols of the banned terrorist outfit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DIG Ajith Rohana said the website and YouTube channel had caused disharmony amongst the ethnic groups of Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the suspects were arrested in connection to the operation of the website and YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The TID had also seized five desktops and five laptops from the suspect\u2019s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DIG Ajith Rohana said they will be charged under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) on charges of promoting terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the two suspects will be transferred to the TID office in Colombo for further investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Courtesy: Colombo Gazette<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two suspects have been arrested for promoting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":10650,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-10647","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-world-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10647","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=10647"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10647\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":10649,"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10647\/revisions\/10649"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/10650"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10647"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=10647"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=10647"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
