{"id":11364,"date":"2021-11-09T06:32:17","date_gmt":"2021-11-09T06:32:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/?p=11364"},"modified":"2021-11-09T06:32:19","modified_gmt":"2021-11-09T06:32:19","slug":"four-newborns-die-in-hospital-fire-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/four-newborns-die-in-hospital-fire-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Four newborns die in hospital fire in India"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least four newborns died when a fire broke out in the neonatal ward of a hospital in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firefighters were able to save 36 babies from the Kamla Nehru Children\u2019s Hospital in Bhopal on Monday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Disturbing visuals show parents trying to rush into the smoke-filled hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but officials said an electrical short circuit could be a reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the incident was painful. He ordered an inquiry and announced to pay 400,000 rupees (\u00a34000; $5400) to the families of the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fire broke at around 21:00 local time, plunging the hospital into darkness. Visuals show angry parents trying to enter to save their babies as the hospital\u2019s security stuff struggle to stop them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firefighters took three hours to douse the blaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hospitals fires in India are not uncommon as safety standards are not always strictly followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Sunday, 11 patients died in a Covid ICU of a hospital in Maharashtra state when a fire broke out.
