{"id":1560,"date":"2017-07-10T04:21:43","date_gmt":"2017-07-10T04:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/?p=1560"},"modified":"2017-07-10T04:21:43","modified_gmt":"2017-07-10T04:21:43","slug":"two-police-officers-arrested-over-fatal-shooting-at-truck-in-point-pedro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/two-police-officers-arrested-over-fatal-shooting-at-truck-in-point-pedro\/","title":{"rendered":"Two police officers arrested over fatal shooting at truck in Point Pedro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Two police officers have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting at a truck that ran through a check point in Point Pedro resulting in the death of a youth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A 25-year-old youth was killed at Manalkadu, Point Pedro when police Sunday afternoon opened fire at a truck illegally transporting sand failed to heed police orders to stop at a check point.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The victim has been identified as Yogarasa Dinesh of Karaveddy, Nelliadi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The two police officers arrested over the incident are due to be produced before the Point Pedro Magistrate&#8217;s Court today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Steps have also been taken to suspend the service of these officers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It has been reported that a tense situation erupted in the area after the incident as residents pelted stones at a police vehicle.
