{"id":3716,"date":"2018-08-16T04:58:27","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T04:58:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/?p=3716"},"modified":"2018-08-16T04:58:27","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T04:58:27","slug":"tamils-who-fled-sri-lanka-during-the-war-urged-to-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/tamils-who-fled-sri-lanka-during-the-war-urged-to-return\/","title":{"rendered":"Tamils who fled Sri Lanka during the war urged to return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Deputy Minister of National Integration, Reconciliation and Official Languages, Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana has appealed to Sri Lankan Tamils, who left the island nation during the three decade-long ethic war, to return to the country, the Times of India reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Attending the annual alumni meet at Trichy\u2019s Jamal Mohamed College where he studied B Com in the 1980s, the Minister said the Sri Lankan Government had taken steps to facilitate those who want to return to the country, especially to the Tamil dominated North-eastern province.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cHowever, people who are settled in different countries are hesitant to return, as they have settled down with families\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Minister said the Sri Lankan Government was taking steps for demilitarisation by limiting military recruitments. Later, asked about the continuing arrests of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy, the minister said, \u201cArrests happen only when Indian fishermen enter Sri Lanka\u2019s territorial waters.
