A new organisation operating mainly from Switzerland using the name \u201cThe Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)\u201d has denied being directly involved in the killing of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.<\/p>\n
The newly-formed LTTE promotes itself as a political group shunning violence while pushing for Tamil concerns to be addressed.<\/p>\n
The LTTE is represented by Lathan Suntharalingam and Kuruparan Kurusamy<\/p>\n
Both Suntharalingam and Kurusamy have been very active members of the Tamil diaspora community, supporting the now militarily-defeated LTTE.<\/p>\n
In a media statement, the LTTE said that it never intended to demolish the leadership of India nor attack India.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe never turned our guns towards any person nor leader who was not part of Sri Lanka. We never planned any attack against any non-Sri Lankan leader. We never developed any action against any national leader of India,\u201d the newly formed LTTE said.<\/p>\n
The statement notes that the LTTE believes the pre-planned murder of the former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi, is the result of a conspiracy motivated by the purpose of dismantling the strong relationship between the Indian government and the LTTE.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe ask for an immediate cessation of this allegation of defamation upon the LTTE concerning the murder of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. As a result, we hope to put an end to the infamy on the LTTE on an international platform and that the International Community would at last end the ban on the LTTE that prevent our People to breathe the air of freedom,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n
