{"id":6645,"date":"2019-06-18T04:36:57","date_gmt":"2019-06-18T04:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/?p=6645"},"modified":"2019-06-18T04:36:57","modified_gmt":"2019-06-18T04:36:57","slug":"nepal-warns-bombings-in-sri-lanka-signal-new-type-of-terror-threat-in-south-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/nepal-warns-bombings-in-sri-lanka-signal-new-type-of-terror-threat-in-south-asia\/","title":{"rendered":"Nepal warns bombings in Sri Lanka signal new type of terror threat in South Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Nepal has warned that the devastating Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka have signalled a \u201cnew type of terrorism\u201d threat in South Asia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokhrel said that Nepal has to learn from the lessons and experiences of its friends around the world on counter terrorism<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Millennium Post quoted Pokhrel as saying it is very important to understand the complex phenomenon of terrorism in regional and national contexts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Pokhrel said this while addressing a seminar \u2018Dialogues on Public Security: Countering Terrorism\u2019 organised by Nepal Army in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Nine suicide bombers carried out a series of blasts that tore through three churches and as many luxury hotels on April 21, killing 258 people and injuring 500 others. \u201cWe have witnessed terrorist attacks on innocent civilians in many parts of the world and we have been saddened by those attacks,\u201d he was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cThe Easter Sunday bombing attacks this April in Sri Lanka sent a clear and strong message that a new type of terrorism threat has arrived in South Asia,\u201d the Deputy Prime Minister said in the presence of Ministers, foreign diplomats and top military officers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">There is a need to learn from the lessons and experiences of \u201cour friends around the world on counter terrorism\u201d, he said.
