{"id":7255,"date":"2019-09-25T00:57:40","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T00:57:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/?p=7255"},"modified":"2019-09-25T00:57:40","modified_gmt":"2019-09-25T00:57:40","slug":"more-locomotives-and-wagons-from-india-to-sri-lanka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/more-locomotives-and-wagons-from-india-to-sri-lanka\/","title":{"rendered":"More locomotives and wagons from India to Sri Lanka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">India is to supply more locomotives and wagons to Sri Lanka soon, the Indian High Commission in Colombo said yesterday.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Sri Lanka Arjuna Ranatunga and the High Commissioner of India Taranjit Singh Sandhu flagged off a new train, \u201cDakshina Nagaranthara Sigragami\u201d from Maradana to Beliatta today.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Minister and High Commissioner also travelled by the new train from Maradana to the Fort Railway Station.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The \u201cDakshina Nagaranthara Sigragami\u201d is made in India and supplied by M\/s RITES Ltd. under Indian Line of Credit to Sri Lanka Railways.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The train has best-in-class passenger amenities and will offer both comfort and speed to passengers reflecting a next level of travel experience. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The engines and transmission system are of the latest genre and requires minimal maintenance. The coaches ensure enhanced dust &amp; noise control. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The train has on-board Infotainment system with GPS based passenger information system. Air conditioned Chair Cars have 360\u00ba rotating seats. The train has glass bottomed Aluminium Extruded Modular Luggage racks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">All 6 trains (DMUs) have now been delivered to Sri Lanka, as per the contract signed between M\/s RITES Ltd. India and Sri Lanka Railways in March 2017. In addition, India has also supplied 5 locomotives and 15 wagons to Sri Lanka during the last 10 months, under Line of Credit. 5 more locomotives and 35 more wagons will also be supplied by India to Sri Lanka soon. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">India has so far committed Lines of Credit worth around US$ 1.3 billion for development of railway sector in Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The ceremony was also attended by other dignitaries including Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, L.P. Jayampathy, General Manager, Sri Lanka Railways, M.J. D. Fernando, and General Manager, RITES Ltd. Mr. G.A.
