{"id":7453,"date":"2019-11-04T07:32:41","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T07:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/?p=7453"},"modified":"2019-11-04T07:32:41","modified_gmt":"2019-11-04T07:32:41","slug":"doctors-accused-of-promoting-candidates-in-hospitals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltamilnews.net\/english\/doctors-accused-of-promoting-candidates-in-hospitals\/","title":{"rendered":"Doctors accused of promoting candidates in hospitals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'\">Government doctors have been accused of promoting Presidential candidates in hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'\">The Centre for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) said that a medical doctor attached to the Anuradhapura hospital had coerced several women admitted at the maternity ward to vote for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'\">The CMEV said it has notified the Elections Commission of Sri Lanka and the relevant officials to take prompt action to prevent such unwarranted campaigning activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'\">Adding to the trend of hospital-based election campaigning, the CMEV said that an incident on distributing promotion leaflets of SLPP candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa was reported from the Colombo Central Hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'\">The CMEV lodged a complaint on this with the Director General of the Colombo Central Hospital and the Elections Commission of Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'\">Courtesy: Colombo Gazette<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government doctors have been accused of promoting Presidential candidates in hospitals.
