Teplitz says accountability is a must over the killing of George Floyd.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">She tweeted saying the killing of George Floyd is disturbing and Americans across the US are expressing their anger and demanding change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cIn a democracy, rule of law must always be upheld and security forces must be accountable for their actions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Ambassador said that the US Justice Department has announced a full criminal investigation into the circumstances of Floyd\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">She also noted that since the end of the US civil war more than 150 years ago, the US has confronted a legacy of racism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Nonetheless, she said Americans continue, despite setbacks, to build the \u201cmore perfect union\u201d envisioned by the country\u2019s founders and to ensure the laws\u2019 full protection applies to all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alaina B.
