Chinese Navy ship arrives in Sri Lanka

A Chinese Navy ship arrived in Sri Lanka today on an official visit, the Sri Lanka Navy said.

The People’s Liberation Army Navy ship “Zhu Ke Zhen” arrived at the port of Colombo today (14th November) on an official visit.

The ship was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with Naval traditions on her arrival.

The Deputy Commander of Maritime Surveying Division of the People’s Liberation Army Navy, Senior Captain Yang Boran and the Commanding Officer of the ship called on the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.

They held cordial discussions on the matters of mutual interest and exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.

The Defence Attaché of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Senior Colonel Xu Jianwei and officers of the ship were also present on this occasion.

People’s Liberation Army Navy ship “Zhu Ke Zhen” which is 129m in length has a displacement capacity of 4900 tons and has got a crew of 150 Naval personnel onboard.

During their 6 day visit, the ship’s crew is scheduled to participate in several programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy and she will be departing for her next port of call on 19th November 2019.
