by editorenglish

A group of Jaffna University students staged a walk from Jaffna to Anuradhapura in protest over the continued detention of Tamil political prisoners.

The students reached Anuradhapura today and protested in support of the Tamil detainees at the Anuradhapura prison.

Meanwhile protests were also staged in other parts of the North and East demanding the release of the release of the political prisoners.

Some of the prisoners had been staging a hunger strike calling for their cases to be expedited as some of them have not yet been charged.
