A group of social activists belonging to Diaspora Tamils met with Reginald Cooray, the Governor of Northern Province and had discussions with him. This meeting has held at the Governor’s Bungalow located at the Old Park in Chundukuli, Jaffna.
They, who came to visit their homeland from their exiled countries such as German, France, Canada, London and Australia, had discussions with Reginald Cooray, the Governor of Northern Province, about the prevailing political, socio economic situation of their homeland.
More particularly, they discussed about the attempts of the government made to control the narcotic usage and the violent situation in the Northern Province and the solutions to the issues of the Tamil people.
A detailed video clip consists of the details about the developmental activities carried out in the post war era, developmental activities being carried out and developmental activities to be carried out in future has been shown by the Media Division of the Governor to the those came to visit their homeland from their exiled countries.
The governor, who got to know from them about the steps to be taken to increase the assistances from Diaspora to develop the Northern Province in future, assured that that he is ready to provide his fullest support to such attempts.
“The people living here are politically and economically vulnerable due to war. Diaspora Tamils should take constructive steps to uplift the standard of living of the people living here. Wealthy persons in Diaspora should take steps to establish companies here to provide job opportunities to the unemployed youths in the Northern Province”, the governor further added.
Secretary of the Governor, Joint Secretary Sundaram Divahallala, NPC member Akilathas Sivakolunthu, Dr.Colton, the presidential coordinator of North and East, S.S.Kuganathan, the Chairman of SSK, K.Sevverl, the Chairman of Friends Company, P.Gopalakrishnan, the Director of North Lanka Institute, Kirupakaran, the President of Jaffna Lion’s Club and many others participated in this meeting.
