Island-wide curfew lifted except in North Western Province

The countrywide curfew which was imposed by the police at 9 pm yesterday, was lifted at 4 am today, the Police Media Spokesman’s Office said.

The curfew in the Gampaha Police Division was lifted at 6 am, the Spokesman’s office said in a release.

Meanwhile, the police curfew imposed in the North Western Province will be in effect until further notice, Police said.

Sri Lanka Police imposed the island wide Curfew as anti-Muslim violence sparked in the Northwestern Province spilled over to other areas in the country as well.
