Shramadana has been done at the Martyrs’ resting place (Maveerar Thuyilum Illam) located at Kanakapuram yesterday. This Shramadana has been done from 7 AM to noon. This particular area is surrounded by mangroves especially erukkan plants after the Sri Lankan military left the place. It is found that cemeteries and memorial monuments erected there were demolished by the Sri Lankan military.
Meanwhile, a few years ago, one of the ruling party members of Karaichchi Pradeshiya Sabha brought a resolution stating that Sharamadana should be done at the Martyrs’ resting place (Maveerar Thuyilum Illam). O the following day from the resolution brought, they kept the land where the Martyrs’ resting place (Maveerar Thuyilum Illam) under their control by fencing it with two tier barbed wire.
This Shramadana has been done with the solemn participation of hundreds of people. It is noted that this Shramadana has been done without any interruptions and disturbances.
