The United National Party (UNP) says it is prepared to discuss amendments to the 19th Amendment to the Constitution with the Government.
UNP senior Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella told reporters today that the 19th Amendment had the support of Parliament when it was tabled by the former Government and eventually passed.
He said that if the current Government feels there are some clauses which needs to be amended the UNP is willing to discuss the amendments with the Government.
However, he said it was unlikely that the UNP will support fully abolishing the 19th Amendment.
