Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya says he is prepared to resign if found guilty over accusations with regards to steps taken by the Government to bring back his son from the UK.
Deshapriya had been accused of seeking favour from the President’s Office to bring back his son from overseas.
However, in a statement posted on his Facebook, Deshapriya insisted that he had not sought the involvement of the President to bring back his son.
His son had returned to Sri Lanka on a flight from the UK with several others.
Deshapriya said that if the allegations against him are found to be true then he will step down as Elections Commission Chairman.
