The Army has been placed on standby to face any future threats, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said.
The Army media unit quoted him today as telling the Indian media that the Army has identified non-conventional threats and other challenges and as a result troops are on standby to face any emergency in the future.
The Commander said that since the end of the war in 2009, the Army has been dedicated towards post-war nation-building and reconciliation.
He said that the process would continue, be sustained and supported by the armed forces as per the vision of the new President.
Lieutenant General Silva also asserted that he would ensure the highest degree of discipline among all ranks in the organization and would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against wrongdoers under any circumstances.
