Despite 9 years have passed since the war came to an end, people are yet to be provided the permanent houses -People are poverty stricken- -Reporter for Global Tamil News-

According to the statistical data of the UN, Mullaitivu is the most backward district in Sri Lanka. Mullaitivu, which is the most backward district in terms of education, is being the first place among the districts where people are poverty stricken. People of this area highlighted that government officers’ attitude of paying no attention to the issues of the people is one of the reasons for this pathetic plight.

Despite 10 years are about to be reached since the war came to an end, more than 100 families of Mankulam, Panikkankulam and Thirumurukandy of Mullaitivu district have been living in temporary houses as these areas are yet to be included in the housing scheme.

The houses where these people have been temporarily living were constructed once they had been resettled since the war came to an end. These houses became completely uninhabitable. These people have been suffering from many issues because of this.

These people demanded the officials to construct houses for them in housing scheme by having considered their pathetic plight.

The habitual lives of these people including the education of their children became painful and it is the most worst during rainy seasons, people further added.
