Former PM refutes allegations of conspiring to assassinate State Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage

Former Prime Minister Colombo District Parliamentarian Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday stated in Parliament that he was not a conspirator as State Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has alleged.

The Leader of the United National Party refuted the allegations levelled against him by Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage regarding a telephone conversation between himself and MP Ranjan Ramanayake plotting to assassinate Aluthgamage.

“I am not a conspirator. As soon as I knew about this I made a statement in parliament. This is in the Hansard,” he said.

Mr. Wickremesinghe said the CDs taken over by the police from Ranjan Ramanayake’s residence in Madiwela have become public property and being circulated in in the media and social media.

Therefore, Wickremesinghe requested the police to take all the CDs into their custody conduct an investigation and reveal if he had committed any offense.

Ranil Wickremesinghe, who arrived in the House during the debate on the manifesto of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, made this special statement.
