Protest emphasizing the immediate removal of the occupying Sri Lankan military from the lands of the people held at Vavuniya. People of Aandiyapuliyankulam and Iraamiyankulam come under the Chettikulam Divisional Secretariat staged this protest yesterday.
The people staged this protest at Iraamiyankulam on Thalaimannar-Mathavachi main road raised the following slogans;
“Whether the military is supposed to protect the country or doing cultivation at our own land?”
“We, who harbored refugees, have become refugees”
“Let us live in our own land”
“Get out Sri Lankan military from our own land”
Protestors, who handed over the memorandum in this regard to the Chettikulam Divisional Secretary K.Sivakaran, expressed their anxiety by stating that they are worse affected as their lives and livelihoods got affected since their fertile lands are still being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military.
