Grama Niladhari officers withdraw from protest

Grama Niladhari officers have withdrawn from a protest campaign following talks with the relevant authorities.

The Grama Niladhari officers had decided not to distribute a Rs. 5,000 allowance to low-income families as a mark of protest.

The Government had decided to distribute a Rs. 5,000 allowance to low-income families to assist them during the coronavirus crisis.

However, Grama Niladhari officers had withdrawn from the distribution process in protest over a Government circular.
