Former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said former LTTE bigwig Karuna Amman alias Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharam was of no use to the Army during the final phase of the Eelam war.
“It’s a misconception to believe that he helped us during the war. He had nothing much to offer militarily,” Fonseka told reporters.
“He had nearly 150 people, but about 80 of them were child soldiers,” he added.
“He could’ve helped us by sharing intelligence information, but he didn’t do that. When we found Prabhakaran’s bunker in Puthukudiirippu, we did it on our own,” he said.
Karuna Amman, a contestant at the upcoming Parliamentary election, currently finds himself at the centre of a major controversy as he publicly claimed that he killed about 3000 soldiers in one night.
