Journalist from Killinochchi, who was on his way towards Murukandy from Iranaimadu, has been stopped by the traffic police just a kilometer away from Iranaimadu junction yesterday evening.
When the Tamil policemen, who took the driving license of this particular journalist by making accusation that the journalist has ridden bike at the speed of 68KMPH which has exceeded the speed limit, started writing, the journalist asked the policeman to show him the speed that he is said to have exceeded the speed limit on the Speed Meter. responding to that, the policemen told the journalist that though he stopped the journalist without measuring the speed by means of the Speed Meter, the journalist exceeded the speed limit. Then, the journalist introduced himself as journalist asked the policemen how they measured the speed 68 KMPH without using the Speed Meter.
Those two policemen who did not reply to it stopped him for 10 minutes and then him his driving license to leave there.
But the journalist asked the policemen to give him the receipt for the court as he was earlier accused to have exceeded the limit as his time was wasted because of the lies told by the policemen.
Responding to it, the policemen stated in derogatory words that they would behave like this and they are not afraid of it.
According to the sign board in the A9 highway, the area where the journalist has been accused to have exceeded the limit by riding the bike at 68 KMPH comes under the speed limit of 70KMPH.
In addition, the video footage of the entire said incident taken by the journalist makes sure the happening of this incident.
When the villagers were asked to comment on this particular incident, they stated that the recently transferred policemen used to stop the people by making false accusations and asked them to give bribe by telling them lies that if these are convicted in the court, it would cost several thousands.
This particular journalist has also been stopped with such intent to get bribe. But, as they got to know that he is a journalist, they have allowed him to go after giving up their attempt to get bribe from him.
