COVID-19 test kits and other emergency medical supplies donated by Ali Baba founder Jack Ma have arrived in Sri Lanka Friday, the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said.
China Eastern Airlines MU231 from shanghai landed at 1855pm last night, carrying over 20,000 COVID-19 test kits donated by Jack Ma, the Embassy said in a Tweet.
Also onboard were millions of rupees worth donations purchased from China by overseas Chinese in Sri Lanka, the Embassy added.
The 20,064 detection kits (PCR-Fluorescence Probing) for COVID-19 donated by the Alibaba Foundation in cooperation with Jack Ma Foundation worth USD 129,011, according to the Embassy.
The donations were expected to be cleared from Sri Lanka Customs on Saturday.
Jack Ma, last month said his foundation will donate 1.8 million masks, 210,000 test kits, 36,000 protective suits, plus ventilators and thermometers to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
