Ninth anniversary of Mullivaikal massacre has been commemorated with the tears of thousands by lighting the flame of remembrance.

Mullivaikal Commemoration commemorating the people who were killed at the final stage of the war in Mullivaikal held today (18/05/2018).

Kesavan Vijitha, who has lost her parents and relatives and also got wounded, lit the common flame of remembrance. Subsequent to that, others lit the flame of remembrance individually.

Thousands of people expressed their feelings by shedding tears with the remembrance of their relatives who lost their lives at the final stage of the war in Mullivaikal. People visited Mullivaikal by the buses organized from Vavuniya, Mannar, Killinochchi, Mullaitivu and Jaffna districts.

Students of the University of Jaffna were organizing this event this time. None of the politicians other than Chief Minister Vigneshwaran has been allowed to go into the place where common flame of remembrance has been lit.

Students stopped the politicians including Mavai Senathirajah, Charles Nirmalanathan, Sivamohan, Sritharan, Santhi Sriskantharajah, Sivasakthi Ananthan, NPC members and Jaffna Municipal members from entering into the particular area where common flame of remembrance has been lit.
