People of Iranaitivu, which comes under the Poonery Divisional Secretariat Division, staged an attention drawn struggle urging their resettlement at their native land yesterday (29-05-2017) in Killinochchi.
The rally marched from the premises of Killinochchi Theresampal temple at about 2PM reached the Killinochchi District Secretariat where Memorandum has been handed over to the Government Agent.

Though their protest has reached its 29th day, no constructive steps have been taken yet. Though one of the parliamentarians has assured that Minister of Defense would take steps after visiting the place directly, nothing happened so far. Consequently, the people who marched from Iranaimathanagar reached to Killinochchi to stage their protest, according to the protestors.
Following are the demands of the people;
“We want our native land”
“We want the right to do our livelihood in our native land”
“We want to maintain our livestock”
“We want our fertile land to enrich our livelihood”
“Our land should be safeguarded from danger of being looted”
“Looting of the resources of our land should immediately be stopped”
“Occupying Sri Lankan Navy should be removed from our native land”
