People of Keppapulavu staged a protest demanding the release of their lands in front of the military camp today.
When these people were staging a protest at the beginning of this month, the government officials stated that they would make the proper answer with regard to the release of these lands before 25th of this month available to the people. As the people are yet to be given the proper response, the people have staged this protest today.
It is stated that hundreds of policemen have been deployed at the place where the people’s protest is taking place. Though the Divisional Secretary of the Karaichi Divisional Secretariat has spoken to the protestors, people continue their protests by turning their deaf years to what was told by the Divisional Secretary.
Meanwhile, through the police went to the Court for getting injunction to the protest, the Court made an order stating that the protest can be peacefully staged without harming the military camp and the state assets.
