Postal voting for 2020 general election ends today

Postal voting for 2020 parliamentary election that began on 14th July is due to end today. Postal voters were given the opportunity to mark their ballots from the 14th to the 17th of this month.

Marking of postal ballots took place at public institutions for all eligible voters except for District Secretariats, Election Offices, Police Stations, Security Forces Camps, Department of Civil Security Force and in the health sector on July 14 and 15. Those excepted voters had the ooprtunity to mark the posatal ballots on the 16th of July and until 12.00 noon on the 17 of July.

Postal voters who failed to mark their postal ballots were allowed to make the postal ballots on 20th and 21st July 2020 at the District Secretariat or at the Election Office in the district where their service station is located.

Accordingly, all public servants who were unable to cast their ballots on the relevant day will be able to cast their ballots today, the Elections Commission said.
