Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during their meeting on Sunday have paid special attention to strengthening and expanding economic ties between India and Sri Lanka.
The two prime ministers exchanged ideas at length on creating future economic opportunities between the two countries.
Both prime ministers focused their attention on the current progress of the bilateral relations of the two countries and future plans. The discussions also focused on the global terrorism and collective actions need to be taken regarding counterterrorism measures.
Prime Minister Modi assured the Sri Lankan leader India’s full support to further strengthen the bilateral relationship through people oriented development projects.
“Had fruitful discussions with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Assured development partnership including through people oriented projects in Sri Lanka,” Premier Modi tweeted.
Premier Modi, who arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka Sunday morning on the invitation of President Maithripala Sirisena, was received by the Sri Lankan Prime Minister. Since many meetings were scheduled during PM Modi’s short visit, the two prime ministers held discussions in the vehicle during the ride to Colombo from the airport.
