Mullivaikal is the soil where enormous numbers of Tamils were brutally killed by the Sri Lankan armed forces at the final stage of the war. It is the soil where many of our Tamils were disappeared. This is the soil where Tamils burnt themselves for the liberation. Thousands of freedom fighters and people have sacrificed their lives with the dream of liberation.
Tamils should gather in the united manner at Mullivaikal on May18. In the day of mourning, when Tamils were massacred immensely in 2009, commemorative events at the Mullivaikal remembrance are going to be carried out under the leadership of the Northern Provincial Council that is governed by the TNA. Meanwhile, R.Sampanthan stated like this.

“Our relatives were killed by the Sri Lankan military in various attacks at the final stage of the war. The final stage of the war committed against the international laws with no evidence. I addressed the parliament about it several times. I asked the then government to stop the war immediately. But the government brought the war to an end by giving massive lose to the Tamils. Thus, enormous numbers of Tamils were killed. Large numbers of our relatives were disappeared. Homes and properties of our people were destroyed. We now demand the International Community to bring justice to the victims. May18 is declared as the “Tamil Genocide Day” and the day of mourning”
