Those in black clothes, who were believed to be the loyalists to one of the parliamentarians, were attempting to disturb the protests and they have intimidated the journalists.
The relatives of those who were disappeared staged protest yesterday (Monday) in front of the Killinochchi Kandaswamy temple.
They have not been allowed to take the leadership of this protest
The particular parliamentarian, who came there with his loyalists, have welcomed the politicians including Suresh Premachandran, the leader of the EPRLF, and he started to take the leadership of this protest.
Meanwhile, those who organized this protest asked the relatives of the disappeared to come front with the placards to lead the protest. The organizers of this protest have not allowed the politicians to take up either the leadership or leading role in this protest.
Meanwhile, those in black clothes have come front as in a manner of making the placards carried by the relatives of those who were disappeared invisible and started raising slogans in the manner of disturbing the protest.
Contradiction in raising the slogans as some persons started raising the slogan stating “OMP is needed”
When the relatives of those who were disappeared were raising the slogan stating “OMP is not needed”, those in black clothes started raising slogan stating “OMP is needed”. When the relatives of those who were disappeared told them that OMP is not needed to them, they responded that their parliamentarian is in an attempt to open the OMP Office in Killinochchi after arguing about it in parliament and they asked the people not to raise slogan like that.
Then, when the people were rallying towards UN Office, those in black clothes raised their slogan as in the manner of making the placards carried by the people invisible. In the meantime, when the rally reached the Depot Junction, those in black clothes ordered the people to sit on the road. People who got confused because of this have sat on the road.
Assault on the youths
Meanwhile, those in a three wheeler, who were raising the slogans by means of loud speaker, have asked the people to walk, without siting on the road.
Then, those in black clothes, assaulted those inside the three wheeler and pulled out the wire connected to the loud speaker by stating “You can’t guide us”. Then, those surrounded there asked those in black clothes to leave from there.
Intimidation to the journalists
When the journalists were attempting to photograph those in black clothes, who were disturbing the protest, they confronted with the journalists.
They intimidated the journalists asking “Why are you photographing us? Take the photos of the people who are protesting”. Also they were disturbing the journalists without allowing them to do their job.
Then, they took the photos of the journalists, who were attempting to take the photos of those in black clothes and intimidated them by saying “None of you will pass Killinochchi”. They attempted to assault the journalists also.
Loyalists to one of the parliamentarians
“Those in black clothes are the loyalists to one of the parliamentarians and they behaved in the manner of disturbing the protest several times and they did so on the Sri Lankan Independence Day also”, according to the people.
