Indian Naval Ship Rajput arrives at Sri Lanka’s Colombo Port

Sri Lanka Navy, in accordance with naval traditions, ceremonially welcomed an Indian naval ship arrived at the Port of Colombo Thursday.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) “Rajput” arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit on 11th October, the Navy said.

The Commanding Officer of INS Rajput, Captain Rajesh Nair and the Indian delegation met the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Western Naval Command Headquarters and held a cordial discussion.

Defense Advisor to the Indian High Commission in Colombo Captain Ashok Rao was also present on the occasion.

INS Rajput, a guided-missile destroyer is 146m in length, 15m in width, and has a displacement of 4560 tons.

During her two day official visit, its crew members are scheduled to visit the places of interest in Sri Lanka.

The ship is due to set sail for her next port of call from the Colombo harbor today.
