Coronavirus update: 401 new COVID-19 cases identified Tuesday, total surpasses 18000

According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 401 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Tuesday.

Among the positive cases identified Tuesday are 398 close contacts of the infected from Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and three marine security personnel arrived from overseas and currently in quarantine.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 10 pm Tuesday, a total of 18,075 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 5,799 patients received medical care at hospitals. Another 516 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Sri Lanka reported 66 deaths and 12,210 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 680,843 PCR tests have been conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons from February 18 to November 16, according to the report.
