Facilities that were even available during the LTTE’s time are not currently available at the Nedunkerni Base Hospital, according to T.Tamilchelvan, the member of Vavuniya North Pradesiya Sabha.
Vavuniya North region is being as the region where dense population has been prevailing since the war came to an end. But, Nedunkerni Base Hospital is the only hospital which is located as the center of all villages in this region.
Hundreds of people come to this hospital every day. As the lack of facilities at this hospital, doctors of this hospital are unable to give the proper treatment to the patients and the patients are taken to Vavuniya General Hospital because of this. Consequently, some deaths occurred.
Patients are not taken care at this hospital because of the lack of facilities available. Also, doctors do not properly take care of the patients in this hospital and even the one bitten by ant also has to be taken to Vavuniya General Hospital from this base hospital.
During the times of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, this hospital had been functioning with many facilities without any drawbacks. But it is sad that this hospital has been running short of facilities since the war came to an end.
