Indian Navy Chief arrives in Sri Lanka

Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) of the Indian Navy arrived in Sri Lanka on a six-day official visit, the High Commission of India in Colombo said.

The Indian Navy Chief was warmly received by Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Navy Rear Admiral UNP Perera on his arrival Monday night.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar met Commander of Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne this morning at the Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters in Colombo.

They have discussed several matters important to the navies of both countries, reminiscing the long-standing relationship between India and Sri Lanka.

The navy top brass had productive discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation and deepening capacity building initiatives between the two Navies, the High Commission said.

The CNS has been invited as the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer for the Commissioning Parade at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, scheduled on 15 December 2022.

As part of his official visit, Admiral R Hari Kumar is scheduled to call on the President, Prime Minister, the State Minister of Defense, Secretary of Defense, Chief of Defense Staff and meet with Commanders of the Army and Air Force.

Concluding the official visit, the Chief of Naval Staff of India will leave the island on 17th December.
