Mukamalai located in the Pachchilaipalli Divisional Secretariat looks like a battlefield again. Enormous numbers of heavily armed soldiers and police have been deployed early hours of today.
The situation occurred following a shooting incident near Katcharveli area late last night.
Traffic police who were on duty on the A9 main road heard the suspicious sound from Katcharveli area last night. Subsequently, when the police attempted see you by illuminating by means of a torch light, unknown person fired the bullets four times by means of T-56 rifle towards policemen and escaped from there, according to the report revealed by the police.
During this incident policemen also opened gunfire. But none were affected by this gunfire. Train Signal Controller Boxes were hit by the bullets fired by the policemen.
Consequently, Police has announced using loudspeakers stating that people should not leave from their homes located at Katcharveli area and the surrounding areas of it, sources from their stated.
A large number of armed soldiers and police are carrying out a search operation till the moment.
