- Ecuador has decreased its total cases from 31,881 to 29,420 (-2,461) after duplicate records were identified, according to the Ministry of Health. “Data processing is a systematic, complex, dedicated, disciplined process” the Deputy Minister of Health, Xavier Solórzano, said, adding that “The cleaning and purification (of data) is a normal and routine process to obtain reliable information” and that Ecuador’s epidemiological surveillance system “dates back a few decades and has some technological limitations” while explaining that “we had two sources of data.
